13.11.2022Today the Appeal of the International Athlete Rights Association Has Been Sent to the International Olympic Committee and 52 International Associations and Federations of International Sports
We have no illusions that the situation in international sports can change for the better immediately after the Appeal. Maybe nothing will change at all, or maybe even worse due to objective circumstances beyond our control.
However, we have the hope that our concerns about the bad situation in world sports will be heard, and our thoughts and feelings will gradually enter the hearts and minds of athletes and world sports leaders and, perhaps, help to change the situation in international sports for better.
The Word has always been in the Beginning. The world was sometimes changed by a simple change of point of view on current events. We ourselves need to change for the better. Mahatma Gandhi said: “Be the change you want to see in the world”.
It also seems to us that the power of a personal example of each of us in realizing the desire to change the world and unite humanity is important. In this regard, we especially want to thank the members of our organization, who were not afraid of politicians and expressed their independent point of view on the bad events taking place in international sports, who took a strong stand to protect the rights of Russian and Belarusian athletes. Many thanks in this regard to the President of the International Sports Law Association, Professor Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos (Greece), Head of the Board of Trustees of the University of Western New England, former Director of International Programs of the US National Olympic Committee, Professor Kurt Hamakawa (USA), Member of the Board of Directors of IASL, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science of the University Teramo Anna Di Giandomenico (Italy), Professor of Private International Law at the People's University of Navarra, Professor of the Curriculum at the Jean Monnet Department of the European Union Iriarte Angel Jose Luis, (Spain), Soviet legendary athlete, world record holder in long jump, medalist of many Olympic Games, Professor of the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture Igor Aramovich Ter-Ovanesyan (Russia), Associate Professor of the University of the Southern Federal District, coach of the highest category and judge of the international category in kyokushinkai Oleg Zakharov (Russia), Head of the IARA Representative Office in the Siberian Federal District Yana Pavlenko and European Champion and medalist of the Japanese Championship in kyokushinkai Alexander Mikhailov. These people are the pride of our organization, an example of courage and nobility. God bless them.
