Greece wishes to establish a Center for the out-of-court settlement of sports conflicts and disputes under the auspices of the International Association for the Protection of Athletes' Rights

President of the International Association of Sports Law (IASL), Honorary Chairman of our BoD Dimitrios P. Panagiotopoulos expressed his desire to create a National Center for Reconciliation and Mediation on Sport Conflicts and Disputes in Greece under the auspices of the International Association for the Protection of Athletes' Rights, to find the necessary personnel for the work of this center and to implement this project in the near future.

    In his opinion, in accordance with Article 20 of the European Code of Conduct for Mediators and Greek Law No. 4640/2019, such center can only be a union of persons, free and independent from any state or other influence.

    The IARA BoD fully supports this position of the distinguished professor Dimitrios P. Panagiotopoulos, in this regard, has made appropriate amendments to the Regulation on commissions (centers) for out-of-court settlement of conflicts and disputes and approved this Regulation by its decision.

     The initiator and leader of this project is the Chairman of the IARA Commission for resolving of sports conflicts and disputes (mediation, reconciliation and arbitration procedures) professor Kamenkov. Professor Kamenkov is ready to organize, under the auspices of IARA, the training of sports mediators at the Scientific and Educational Center at the Belarusian State University.
