Kurt Hamakawa (USA), Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Western New England University, was elected Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of International Athlete Right Association (IARA). Mr. Hamakawa has been a member of our Organization since its formation (October, 2020). He is one of the most active Directors of our Organization, very authoritative and most respected member of BoD. He always takes a bold and independent position in discussions on contemporary issues of international sports and the protection of athlete rights, and he is also a strong supporter of strengthening cooperation in international sports between different countries and maintaining peace on our planet. Mr. Hamakawa previously served longtime as the Director of Athlete Services and Director of International Relations for the United States Olympic Committee and he was also Director of the Center for International Sports Business. Western New England University (Missouri, Springfield), headed by Mr. Hamakawa, is a well-known private university in the United States, founded in 1919, where about 5 thousand undergraduate and graduate students study annually in law and other specialties. This university is also a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association of the USA. Mr. Hamakawa’ favorite aphorism is the words of the famous American writer Maya Angelou: “Over the passage of time, people might not remember any of the speeches you gave or any of the wonderful things you did. But they will never forget how you made them feel.” We wish Mr. Hamakawa success in his high public position. We hope that we will never forget the positive emotions that he makes us feel through his social activism.
