The Representative Office of the International Association for the Protection of the Rights of Athletes Was Opened in the Siberian Federal District of the Russian Federation
08.07.2022In accordance with the decision of the Board of Directors of the International Association for the Protection of the Rights of Athletes (IARA), Yana Pavlenko was appointed head of the Representative Office in the Siberian Federal District and Yulia Lebedeva was appointed Deputy Head of the Representative Office. Yana Pavlenko has a higher sports and legal education, experience as a head of legal departments of various sports clubs in Siberia. Yulia Lebedeva is a specialist in private international law, trained at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, she is fluent in French. Yulia and Yana recently improved their skills together at the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism. They are young, talented and enterprising lawyers, ready to defend the rights of athletes not only in Siberia, but also anywhere in the world. We all congratulate Yana and Yulia on this high appointment, and wish them success in their noble mission to protect the rights of athletes in Siberia and the World.
The Board of Directors also approved the Regulations on the Representative Office in the Siberian Federal District. In accordance with this document, the Representative Office not only represents the interests of our organization in the Siberian Federal District, but can independently participate in public activities to protect the labor, social and other rights of athletes. In particular, to act in this regard with public and private initiatives in the press and the Internet, to defend the rights of athletes in courts and through mediation, to provide ongoing legal advice to athletes and trade unions of sports organizations, to seek assistance from law enforcement agencies and the Prosecutor's Office. In addition, the Representative Office may participate in the preparation and examination of regional sports projects and programs, organize conferences on sports law, conclude agreements with regional public organizations and monitor the observance of the rights of athletes when organizing international and other sports competitions in the Siberian Federal District.
The Board of Directors has high hopes for the leaders of our new Representative Office and hopes that the activities of the Representative Office will help unite athletes from all over the world, hold large-scale international sports in Siberia and strengthen peace on our planet. We are also confident that our Representatives will be able to take a principled stand and protect the rights of athletes from unfair political sanctions, as well as from any illegal punishments and harassment related to the professional activities of athletes. For its part, the IARA Board of Directors is ready to provide ongoing assistance in the activities of the Representative Office in the Siberian Federal District, as well as personally visit Siberia in order to promote the development of international sports and discuss the problems of protecting the rights of athletes.
